FAQ

What is Sukrin+?

Sukrin+ is Sukrin that has been combined with stevia. This provides a completely natural sweetener with twice the sweetness of sugar. Sukrin+ combines the sugar consistency of Sukrin with the sweetness of stevia. Sukrin eliminates the, sometimes, bitter aftertaste of a number of stevia products. Both Sukrin and stevia are zero-calorie products, and Sukrin+ does not cause any spike in blood sugar levels!

Is Sukrin+ a carbohydrate?

Technically, erythritol is a carbohydrate, but it does not behave like regular carbohydrates such as sugar and starch. Erythritol is not used as energy in the body, but is excreted unused in the urine. You do not need to take into account erythritol when calculating your intake of carbohydrates. Therefore, Sukrin+ is very well-suited for all low-carb diets and for all those that would like to avoid unnecessary carbohydrates.

What are sugar alcohols?

Sugar alcohols are a type of carbohydrates called “polyols”. Part of their chemical structure resembles sugar, and part of it resembles alcohol – hence the confusing name. Sugar alcohols occur naturally in plants. Some of them are extracted from plants, and some from sugars and starches. Despite the name, they have no effect on your blood sugar alcohol level, unlike regular alcohol.

What are the benefits of Erythritol?

Not to be confused with an artificial sweetener, erythritol is a naturally occurring sugar alcohol, also known as a polyol. Found naturally in some plants, vegetables and even the human body, it has been found to be safe as a sugar substitute even when consumed daily and in high amounts. Erythritol is non-calorific – while most sugar alcohols like Xylitol have some calories, erythritol has zero and is non-glycemic. Erythritol is easier than other sugar alcohols to digest, some being absorbed in the small intestine, and the rest being excreted in the urine – very little reaches the colon so it´s unlikely to cause stomach problems like some other sugar alcohols. It is non-carcinogenic, and also has antioxidant properties.

How is the quality of the stevia?

The stevia that is used in Sukrin+ has at least a 97% concentration of Rebaudioside A. Rebaudioside A is the  steviol glycoside with the purest sweet taste that most resembles the taste of sugar. Melting stevia into each individual Sukrin crystal achieves a positive result in that the two sweeteners reinforce one another’s beneficial properties. Sukrin+ provides a rounded, pure sweet taste, and is a natural and healthy alternative anywhere you would otherwise use sugar.

How do I use Sukrin+?

Sukrin+ is twice as sweet as sugar, and just half the amount should therefore be used. This means you can replace all types of sugar in many different baked goods with Sukrin+ and yet maintain succulence and taste. It is important to remember that the volume of Sukrin+ should not total more than 1/5 or about 20% of the total volume of ingredients. An example: there are 100 g of Sukrin+ in 1 kilogram of bread dough. This then comprises 10% of the total weight, which works just fine. If the amount of sugar in a recipe is greater than 20%, we recommend combining Sukrin+ with sugar or another sweetener, such as  Fiber Syrup.

For which diets is Sukrin+ suited?

With zero calories and carbohydrates, Sukrin+ is safe for diabetics. Sukrin+ has no effect on the blood sugar

Erythritol is a 4 carbon polyol, that is mostly absorbed via the small intestine into the bloodstream. It is not fermented in the colon and is unlikely to cause intestinal distress. Therefore, it may be well tolerated by those following a low FODMAP diet

Sukrin+ is perfect for those following a low carb diet, like keto or LCHF – and for those wanting to reduce their caloric intake.

Is Sukrin+ toxic to dogs and other animals?

Erythritol and stevia have been found to be harmless to dogs
